Spring is around the corner and so is your list of things to do around the house , inside and out , and in your neighborhood . But , what if you do not own the appropriate tools and equipment to do the work yourself or cannot afford to buy or rent those items?
   The solution is the City’s free
   Neighborhood Toolbox Tool Lending Center
    .
   This popular program , which has been on hiatus for the winter season , officially reopens Friday , March 1 . Reservations for tools and equipment will be accepted beginning that day .
   The first day for scheduled tool and equipment pick - ups is Monday , March 4 . Pick - ups and returns take place at the Greensboro Sportsplex from 11 am to 1 pm Mondays through Wednesdays .

   program’s webpageand look over the list of available tools and equipment . Do you see what you need? Fill out a request form to borrow the items , and then pick them up .

   Neighborhood Toolbox is a joint effort between the City’s Housing and Neighborhood Development Department ( HND ) and Lowe’s Home Improvement . HND staff created the program last year and Lowe’s donated the equipment and tools for lending .
   “Often residents can’t make necessary home repairs or improvements simply due to the fact that they don’t have the equipment needed , ” says Michelle Kennedy , HND director . “This program literally puts tools in the hands of neighborhoods that need them most . ”
   This tool - lending program is available for non - commercial purposes to people living within Greensboro city limits .
