City of Avondale Receives Prestigious Award for Financial Reporting Excellence
The City of Avondale has been recognized for its exemplary financial reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada ( GFOA ) . The City was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year that ended June 30 , 2022 .
The GFOA ' s Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting . It is awarded to governments that demonstrate a "spirit of full disclosure" by clearly communicating their financial story and motivating potential users and user groups to read the report .
The impartial panel of judges was impressed by the City of Avondale ' s commitment to transparency and accountability in its financial reporting . Avondale’s annual comprehensive financial report met all high standards set by the GFOA , showcasing its dedication to excellence in government finance .
"This award is a testament to our city ' s commitment to responsible financial management , " said Avondale’s Finance & Budget Director , Renee Weatherless . "We are proud to receive this recognition from GFOA . This award would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our finance team "
