As the City of Montrose enters the 11th year of its Single Stream Recycling Program , it invites the public to download the 2024 program guide . For residents who have yet to begin participating in the program , the guide emphasizes the simplicity of the program and how to contribute to its success .
Single - stream recycling services are provided , without additional cost , to the city ' s residential trash collection customers . Since the program ' s beginning in January 2013 , city residents have recycled thousands of tons of metals , plastics , paper , and cardboard , yielding significant savings in energy and natural resources .
How the Program Works
The recycling program is “single - stream” , meaning that all recyclables are placed in a single 90 - gallon can that the city provides to each residential customer . The Single - Stream Recycling Guide provides additional details about materials that are accepted under the program and those that are excluded , as well as the collection calendar and arrangements for the year .
