i . The FDA and CDC authorized and recommended Pfizer and Moderna COVID - 19 vaccines for children 6 months and older . The Health Department encourages families , especially those with young children , get vaccinated at their pediatrician’s office where the environment is more familiar and comfortable . The COVID - 19 vaccine is safe and effective . Before it was authorized for children across age groups , scientists and medical experts reviewed safety and effectiveness data from clinical trials involving thousands of children . Vaccination is the best way to protect children from COVID - 19 .
COVID - 19 vaccine for these ages will also be available at department clinics by appointment only , retail pharmacies , federally qualified health centers and other health care providers across the County and the State . Visit health . mypgc . us/covidvaccine or covidvax . maryland . gov to locate a nearby clinic and make an appointment . Residents may also call Maryland’s GoVAX Call Center at 1 - 855 - MD - GOVAX .
