Highlights from Feb . 14 Council Work Session
The Chapel Hill Town Council met for a Work Session on Wednesday , Feb . 14 at 6:00 pm at Chapel Hill Public Library . The

Update on Implementation of Affordable Housing Strategies
Staff from Affordable Housing & Community Connections gave a presentation about the Town’s current programs and projects . They shared information about ongoing challenges , including housing supply and rental affordability; recent successes , including the affordable housing loan fund and affordable development on Town - owned land; and an overview of projects in the pipeline , including potential LIHTC ( Low Income Housing Tax Credit ) projects .
2025 Bond Referendum – General Information and Initial Planning
The Town Manager and Business Management Director gave a high - level overview of municipal bonds , a draft schedule for a potential 2025 bond referendum , an initial survey of the Town’s capital needs , and some possible scenarios for what capital projects could be included in a referendum . Staff received direction for project evaluation and will bring more information and scenarios back to Council as part of the annual budget process and five - year budget strategy .
Coffee with a Cop on Saturday
The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down the barriers between police officers and the community they serve by removing agendas and allowing opportunities to ask questions , voice concerns , and get to know the officers in your neighborhood . Join the Guardians of the Hill from 10 to 11:30 a . m . Saturday , Feb . 17 , at The Pitch , 462 W . Franklin St .
Last Round of Leaf Collection
Final seasonal loose - leaf collection starts Monday , Feb . 19 .
If you participate , prepare your leaves!

Avoid blocking travel lanes , bike lanes , and sidewalks .

Public Information Meetings: Rewriting Our Rules LUMO Update
Mark your calendars for our upcoming , in - person Public Information Meetings . They are informal opportunities for you to learn and ask questions about Rewriting Our Rules: A LUMO Update .
Each meeting will be held at 100 Library Drive , Meeting Room B
Monday , March 25; Monday , April 29; Monday , May 20
Staff will give a short presentation at 6:30 p . m . , but otherwise the events are drop - in from 6 to 7:30 p . m . .

Homestead Aquatic Center Closed Feb . 19–March 3
The Homestead Aquatic Center is scheduled to close Feb . 19 to March 3 for maintenance and repairs . During this time , the hours of operation for the Chapel Hill Community Center Pool will be expanded .
Monday through Friday , 5:30 a . m . to 8:30 p . m .
Saturdays , 9 a . m . to 7 p . m .
Sundays , 12 to 7 p . m .
Drop - in times are available for pass holders and residents to enjoy lap swimming and independent water fitness .
