Canton Township Michigan - Canton Receives Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting 03 January 2024 ( news )

Canton once again has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada ( GFOA ) for its annual comprehensive financial report ( ACFR ) for the fiscal year ended December 31 , 2022 . The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting , and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management . When a Certificate of Achievement is awarded to a government , an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement ( AFRA ) is also presented to the individual ( s ) or department designated by the government as primarily responsible for its having earned the Certificate .
“Canton Township is very proud of our finance team and meeting our goals of financial stability , ” says Canton Supervisor Anne Marie Graham - Hudak .
“I’m very proud of the entire Finance team , which strives for compliance with the GFOA best practices and policies to ensure continued financial transparency and stability for the Township , ” says Wendy Trumbull , Canton’s Director of Finance and Budget .
The ACFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program , which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the ACFR .
