CAMP CARROLL , Republic of Korea — U . S . Army Installation Management Command has recognized Camp Carroll Lodge as the 2021 Lodging Operation of the Year in the small size category . The Lodging Operation of the Year Award program recognizes and promotes excellence in Army lodging operations annually . Nominees are identified by each IMCOM installation directorate by size category , and documents are evaluated to determine adherence to the Army Lodging standards for service , operations and facilities . Army Installation Management Command ' s 2021 Lodging Operation of the Year Award for "demonstrating exceptional management with a focus on meeting customer service needs , employee relations , financial management and back of the house systems essential to consistent operations . " "To me , it just goes to reiterate how good our team is and how proud they are of doing their job , " said Hotel General Manager James Kimbrel . "The staff are really the backbone of this place . This is their award . We ' ve got some great employees . They all pitch in and they all do what they ' re supposed to do with minimal supervision . " "It just makes our job easier because of the way the staff take pride in their work . They take their jobs seriously and they ' re passionate about what they do , " added Jesus Yap , hotel assistant manager . Ko is part of the lodge ' s award - winning team which was recognized by U . S . " In addition to maintaining quality services , the lodging team has plans for future improvements , notably at U . S . Army Garrison Daegu ' s Camp Walker location . "Next December we should be opening a new facility [at Camp Walker] . It will be a bigger facility with more rooms and feature all - new furniture , so we ' re really looking forward to that , " said Kimbrel Although the facility at Camp Walker will change and receive a variety of upgrades , Kimbrel said one thing will remain the same—the high level of customer service from the current Camp Walker Lodge staff . "They do a great job there and the new lodge should make things a little easier on the employees . They won ' t have to concern themselves with navigating around facility repairs . They can just focus on delivering the same excellent customer service they ' ve always provided . "
