Job Type: Non-Exempt; Full-Time (Monday – Friday)
Compensation: Grade 30,
Step 1 –10 ($26.58 - $33.20 per hour); Depending on experience & qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY
The San Miguel County Building Department is seeking a talented individual with a positive attitude to join our team as a full time, year-round building inspector. This position will place priority on field inspections and site visits, but will also require significant time in an office environment, providing support in the community development process. The County’s building environment is diverse, ranging from high-end, complex residential structures, to commercial-use mixed occupancy buildings. The ability to work effectively with all employees, citizens, the building community, and other departments is critical to the success of this position.
This is a dynamic position that will form an important part of the future of community development and building department administration in San Miguel County.
San Miguel County is willing to provide the right candidate with on the job training, assistance obtaining required certifications, and professional development to become a professional building inspector with the County as a career. The ideal candidate may have limited building experience or be new to the field, this individual however must have impeccable integrity, be highly motivated to learn, eager to participate in their own development and aware of, and want to, contribute to the progressive culture of the building department, community, and San Miguel County.
The position will report directly to the Building Official and will be compensated at a Grade 30, Step 1 – 10 $26.58 -$33.20 per hour depending on qualifications and experience (employee may be eligible for step increases upon the completion of required certifications). As a full-time position, the Building Inspector will be eligible for all County-sponsored insurance and benefit plans.
Supervision Received:
Receives direct supervision from the County Building Official.
Supervision Exercised:
This position possesses no supervisory responsibilities, but will require frequent interaction with the general public.
