The City of Grandview Heights is accepting applications for Building Inspector/Technician I. Responsibilities include enforcing & inspecting for compliance with the city’s residential/commercial building codes (OBC & RCO), zoning & property maintenance codes, ordinances & standards. The Building Inspector/Technician I will also perform residential building & zoning related plan reviews.
Qualified applicants must have at minimum HS diploma (or equivalent), a valid Ohio Driver’s license, possess a State of Ohio Board of Building Standards (OBBS) Commercial & Residential Building Inspector Certificates (BI, RBI) as a base minimum & obtain ICC Property Maintenance certification within 12 months of hire date. Applicants with additional State of Ohio certifications above the minimum, are considered a plus. (Examples of such additional certification(s) are Residential Plans Examiner (RPE), Residential Building Official (RBO), Electrical Inspector (ESI), Plumbing Inspector (PI &/or RPI). Those applicants with (OBBS) Interim Certification(s); and/or those applicants with limited certifications seeking a trainee opportunity for the other required certifications will also be considered. A minimum of five years experience working with building, property maintenance and zoning codes is desirable.

There are opportunities for a flexible work schedule. The salary is negotiable based on certifications and relevant and applicable experience to the city's needs. The position salary range maximum is $82,000, with an initial target hiring range of $72,000-$78,000, with excellent benefits.
The City of Grandview Heights does offer a promotional career path for this position to the next level of Building Inspector/Technician II (range maximum $94,000) with additional experience and additional certifications obtained.
