The Kern County Board of Supervisors met today as scheduled for Tuesday’s February 6 , 2024 , Board Meeting . Supervisor Phillip Peters ( District 1 ) , Supervisor Zack Scrivner ( District 2 ) , Supervisor Jeff Flores ( District 3 ) , Chairman David Couch ( District 4 ) , and Supervisor Leticia Perez ( District 5 ) were in attendance . Meeting Highlights:
Item No . 2 AM session:
The Board proclaimed February 2024 as Safety Surrendered Baby Awareness Month in Kern County .
Item No . 8 AM session:
The Board approved an agreement with California Health Advocates for program management and support for Senior Medicare Patrol Program for Kern County older residents through May of 2024 .
Item No . 13 AM session:
The Board approved a resolution closing the County Clerk ' s office on March 5 , March 19 , May 21 , and November 5 , 2024 ( election days ) to use customer service windows and staff to help alleviate voter lines and better assist Kern County voters .
Item No . 17 AM session:
The Board approved an agreement with the Housing Authority of County of Kern and CityServe Kern , LP to use Behavioral Health Bridge Housing grant program funds to provide bridge housing in Kern County through June of 2027 .
This program will address the immediate and sustainable housing needs of people in Kern County experiencing homelessness who have serious behavioral health conditions .

Item No . 23 AM session:
The Board approved an agreement with the State of California , Office of Traffic Safety for the District Attorney’s Alcohol and Drug Impaired Driver Vertical Prosecution Program through September of 2024 .
Item No . 28 AM session:
The Board heard a presentation from Public Health on their latest 2024 campaign:
“A Healthier Kern: One Heart at a Time . ”

Item No . 30 AM session:
The Board approved an agreement with the California Department of Public Health for the continuation of the Maternal , Child , and Adolescent Health and Black Infant Health programs through June of 2024 .
Items No . 3 – 7 PM session:
The Board held a series of protest hearings for cost incurred for various nuisance abatement work throughout unincorporated Kern County .
This effort supports the enhancement of quality - of - life for Kern County residents .
Item No . 27 PM session:
The Board voted to contribute $250 to Redemption Ranch to support animal rescues .
Item No . 28 PM session:
The Board voted to contribute $500 to the Community Action Partnerhsip of Kern Foundation ( CAPK ) to support fundraising and community building .
Item No . 29 PM session:
The Board voted to contribute $5 , 000 to the Bakersfield City School District for Sequoia Junior High after school activities .
Item No . 30 PM session:
The Board voted to contribute $400 to the Shafter Chamber of Commerce to Support the State of the City , $500 to the Shafter Community Chest to support community members needing assistance due to medical or financial hardship , $500 to the Kern High School District to support Arvin High School "We the People" team , and $1 , 500 to the Committee for Better Arvin to support community activities .
The next Regular Board Meetings are scheduled for February 13 , 2024 , at 9 a . m . and 2 p . m .
