The City of Batavia staff will raise the Rainbow Flag in recognition of Pride Month , 7 p . m . , Monday , June 6 at the corner of Houston Street and Island Avenue . The flag is a symbol of the City’s support for lesbian , gay , bisexual , transgender , and queer pride , and LGBTQ social movements . The colors in the flag reflect the diversity of the LGBTQ community and the spectrum of human sexuality and gender .
   After the flag - raising , all are invited to attend the regular Batavia City Council meeting where Batavia Mayor Jeffrey Schielke will officially proclaim Batavia’s support for Pride Month . Kathleen Tieri Ton of the Batavia High School Graphic Arts Program , and Peter Thaddeus of Youth Outlook , a social service agency in Illinois dedicated to the support of LGBTQ+ youth , will deliver a Pride presentation to the city council . The public is invited to attend .
