On May 5 , 2022 , officers with the Bristol Tennessee Police Department responded to 636 6

    Street in reference to a man with a gun .  The male suspect retreated into the residence and after a brief negotiation period , was apprehended by officers without incident .   The male was identified as 41 - year old , Roger Dale Buchanan of Bristol , Tennessee .   Detectives spoke with several witnesses and victims on scene and determined Mr . Buchanan had been in a physical altercation with one of the victims .   He also displayed a firearm while verbally threatening and firing several rounds into the ground near the victims .  Mr . Buchanan was charged with Reckless Endangerment and five counts of Aggravated Assault .  He was transported to the Sullivan County Jail on the date of incident .  Mr . Buchanan was issued a $10 , 000 bond .  
   This investigation is still ongoing .  The lead investigator is Detective Eric Keller .
