Ocean Water Quality Rain Advisory
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued the following advisory through Sunday , February 4th:
Ocean Water Quality Advisory - in effect until at least 5:00 a . m . Sunday , February 4th - beach users are advised to avoid all water contact , especially near discharging storm drains , creeks , and rivers due to potentially higher bacteria levels in these areas . This includes any runoff that may flow onto or pond on the beach sand .
Impacts include: ocean and bay recreational waters , especially near discharging storm drains , creeks and rivers can be contaminated with bacteria , chemicals , debris , trash , and other public health hazards from city streets and mountain areas after a rain fall . Individuals who enter the water in these areas could become ill .
This advisory may be extended depending on further rainfall .

High Surf Advisory
The Los Angeles National Weather Service has issued the following for Los Angeles County beaches through February 3rd:
High Surf Advisory - in effect until 6:00 a . m . Saturday , February 3rd - large breaking waves with dangerous rip currents . Surf over west facing beaches will peak at 7 to 12 feet today . Surf will subside to 4 to 7 feet at Los Angeles County beaches , and to 10 feet at Ventura County beaches .
Impacts include: increased risk for ocean drowning . Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea . Large breaking waves can cause injury , wash people off beaches and rocks , and capsize small boats near shore .
Everyone should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions , or stay near occupied lifeguard towers . Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions , stay off the rocks .
