The City of Cuyahoga Falls is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Assistant Water Utilities Superintendent in the Water Department.
Job Objective
Under the direction of the Water Utilities Superintendent, this individual has responsibilities in the Water Utilities Department with a focus on the daily operation and management of the Water Treatment Plant. Performs administrative and technical work in the operation of the water and sewer departments. Plans, schedules, and coordinates activities of workers in the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant and related facilities
and distribution system
to ensure adequate water supply for human consumption, industrial, and commercial use. Performs related duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualification
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree in biology, environmental science, chemistry or a closely related field is
preferred.
A minimum of five years of experience in managing a medium to large water treatment plant, including supervising employees working under a collective bargaining agreement, is
preferred.
Experience with ion exchange and ground water source is preferred. Or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must also possess a Class III Ohio EPA Water Supply License.
Must have valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and the ability to maintain continuing eligibility under the City’s driver eligibility standards.
Candidates must be a non-smoker and non-tobacco user, including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, snuff, etc. for the duration of their employment with the City of Cuyahoga Falls.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Good knowledge of
equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in water treatment plant maintenance and operation activities; and working knowledge of laboratory procedures and practices.
Skilled at scheduling, budgeting, management, and written and verbal communication.
Ability to work safely; oversee process control calculations; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, contractors, and the public; and understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Additional Information
Starting salary for this position is $82,040 annually. After 5 successful years in the position, the annual salary is $102,575. This position offers excellent benefits.
