COLUMBIA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
ASSISTANT CIVIL DEPUTY
STARTING WAGE $36,869 TO $59,616 - DOQ
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of assistant to the Civil Deputy. This position will remain open until filled. The Civil Deputy answers directly to the Sheriff of Columbia County. The Civil Deputy handles all non-criminal duties to include, but not limited to, background checks and processing concealed pistol licenses and firearms purchases, processing and serving orders of the District and Superior Court, conducting evictions and Sheriff's sales, processing evidence at crime scenes and maintaining the property/evidence room, testifying in court, processing and entering arrest warrants and protection orders, maintaining Sheriff's Office records, overseeing contracts and grants, accounts payable, payroll, is responsible for local and state audits of the Sheriff’s Office, and any other duties as directed by the Sheriff of Columbia County. Candidates must have computer skills, be detail-oriented and self-motivated, be able to handle the stresses involved in law enforcement, and be an outgoing person who enjoys working with the public.
Candidates must be able to obtain 136+ hours of job-related training and maintain these continuing re-certifications. Candidates must also successfully pass polygraph, psychological and criminal background checks as well as oral interviews. This position is an unclassified Civil Service position.
Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and holidays off. This position is not eligible for overtime.
