Albemarle County Virginia - ACPD Recognizes Officers for Promotions and Lifesaving Efforts 27 February 2024 ( news )

Colonel Sean Reeves , Chief of the Albemarle County Police Department , is pleased to announce a series of promotions and awards within the department . These officers were recognized during a ceremony on Monday , February 26 , 2024 .
"Through their actions and examples , these officers have earned the respect and trust of their peers , their supervisors , and the public . They have made a difference in the lives of countless people in our country and beyond , and we are grateful to have officers like these protecting and serving our community , " Reeves said during the ceremony .
The Albemarle County Police Department recognized several individuals who were selected for promotions .
Those individuals include:
Terry Walls , promoted to Lieutenant Colonel
Randy Jamerson , promoted to Major
Jason Marden , promoted to Captain
Angela Jamerson , promoted to Lieutenant
Drew Meyer , promoted to Lieutenant
David Rhodes , promoted to Lieutenant
Stephen LaLuna , promoted to Sergeant
Matthew Riley , promoted to Sergeant
Roger Snodgrass , promoted to Sergeant
Tremayne Waddy , promoted to Sergeant
Josh Wright , promoted to Sergeant

In addition to celebrating the promotion of 11 members of ACPD , an additional 22 officers were recognized for providing lifesaving service to 26 members of the Albemarle County community .
Those individuals include:
OFFICER DAVE HUFFMAN
On February 7 , 2023 , Officer Huffman was leaving Western Albemarle High School from getting fuel when a cardiac arrest call was dispatched in the 6200 block of Viar Road in Crozet . Officer Huffman decided to respond given his close proximity . Upon arrival , he found an unresponsive male and began CPR until noticing agonal breathing . Officer Huffman was able to get a pulse and when patrol officers later arrived on scene , the male was responsive and talking .
OFFICER JORDAN DELANGE
On April 13 , 2023 , Officer Jordan DeLange was dispatched to the 1200 block of Peach Tree Drive in Crozet for a male in cardiac arrest from an overdose . Officer DeLange arrived on location within minutes of dispatch , checked the carotid artery , and was able to locate a very faint pulse . He immediately administered a dose of Narcan and started sternum rubs to attempt to wake the patient . The patient was given a second dose of Narcan by rescue before regaining consciousness and being transported to UVA for treatment .
SERGEANT MATTHEW RILEY
On April 14 , 2023 , Sergeant Matthew Riley was dispatched to the 3000 block of Eagle View for a cardiac arrest from an overdose . Upon arrival , officers located an unresponsive male on the floor of his living room . Sergeant Riley administered a dose of Narcan . Rescue arrived on scene a short time later and administered another dose of Narcan . The male gained consciousness a short time later and was transported to the hospital for further treatment .
OFFICER DWAYNE JONES
On May 9 , 2023 , Officer Jones was dispatched to a report of a 1 - year - old infant who was not breathing and in distress . Upon arrival , Officer Jones turned the child over in his hands and gave several back thrusts which led to clearing the child’s airway .
OFFICERS AMANDA CONNER AND ENZO IRIZARRY
On May 15 , 2023 , Officers Amanda Conner and Enzo Irizarry responded to the 800 block of Mallside Forest Court for a report of a citizen in cardiac arrest . Upon arrival , officers discovered an unresponsive female on the floor of the apartment with a good Samaritan attempting to start CPR . Officers Conner and Irizarry took over providing CPR until rescue arrived . Based on the quick actions of both officers , the victim was able to regain spontaneous circulation and was transported to the hospital for further treatment .
OFFICER JUWAN WOODSON
On May 22 , 2023 , Officer Woodson responded to a report of a 16 - year - old who was unconscious from a suspected overdose . Upon arrival , Officer Woodson administered one dose of Narcan and began CPR . The teenager regained consciousness and was transported to the hospital for further treatment .
OFFICERS CLAY CLARKSON , DWAYNE JONES , AND JAMES POTTER
On May 26 , 2023 , Officers Clarkson , Jones , and Potter responded to the 2900 block of Brookmere Road for a report of a citizen in cardiac arrest . Upon arrival , all three took turns providing CPR for the citizen until rescue arrived on location and took over CPR .
OFFICER JUSTIN GIBSON
On June 8 , 2023 , Officer Gibson responded to a report of an 18 - month - old child who was unresponsive . Officer Gibson was the first responder to arrive and began CPR . He continued CPR by himself for several minutes until rescue arrived . The child regained a pulse and rescue was able to transport to the hospital for further treatment .
OFFICERS JOHN VANWITZENBURG AND JAY MORRIS
On July 24 , 2023 , Officers VanWitzenburg and Morris responded to an unconscious , not breathing male suffering from cardiac arrest . Officer Morris immediately began CPR , while Officer VanWitzenburg administered a dose of Narcan . After the Narcan was administered , Officer Morris continued with chest compressions . While administering the compressions , the individual began to breathe again , and Officer VanWitzenburg was able to feel a pulse . Rescue then arrived and transported the individual to the hospital .
OFFICERS ALEXA MOLLICA AND WILLIAM PRICE
On August 5 , 2023 , Officers Mollica and Price responded to the Waffle House on Seminole Trail for a welfare check on a male who appeared to be asleep in his truck . Upon arrival , officers believed the male had overdosed . They administered two doses of Narcan which were effective in the individual regaining consciousness .
OFFICER TRENT COLE
On August 14 , 2023 , Officer Cole responded to a cardiac arrest at the KOA Campground where he located an unconscious female whose husband was attempting CPR . Officer Cole took over CPR until rescue personnel arrived . The patient regained a pulse and was transported to the hospital for further treatment .
OFFICER GABRIELLE WHITFORD
On August 15 , 2023 , Officer Whitford responded to a cardiac arrest call in the area of Hydraulic Road and Commonwealth Drive . Officer Whitford arrived to find a male who was in and out of consciousness . She retrieved her Narcan and administered one dose prior to rescues arrival . The patient regained consciousness and was transported to the hospital for further treatment .
OFFICER ROXANNE KIME
On September 4 , 2023 , Officer Kime responded to the Double Tree parking lot for a cardiac arrest . Upon arrival , Officer Kime located an unconscious female patient on the ground next to her vehicle and administered one dose of Narcan . The female patient regained consciousness and rescue personnel arrived and took over patient care .
SERGEANT JONATHAN HICKORY , OFFICER RYAN LEAKE , AND OFFICER KEVIN DEANE
On September 7 , 2023 , Sergeant Hickory and Officers Ryan Leake , and Kevin Deane responded to the 2400 block of Angus Road for a report of a 4 - year - old suffering from cardiac arrest . Officers began taking turns in providing CPR to the child who was cold to the touch when they arrived . When rescue personnel arrived , all three officers stayed on scene to assist in the patient’s care . The child regained a strong pulse before being transported to the hospital for further care .
SERGEANT JOSH WRIGHT AND OFFICER BAILEY LEGG
On September 30 , 2023 , Sergeant Wright and Officer Legg responded to a report of an unconscious individual lying on the ground of the 7 - Eleven at the intersection of Seminole Trail and Woodbrook Drive . Officer Legg immediately began chest compressions while Sergeant Wright administered one dose of Narcan . The patient regained a pulse and shallow breathing .
OFFICER WILLIAM PRICE
On November 11 , 2023 , Officer Price responded to the intersection of Milton Road and Milton Village Road for the report of the three - year - old who became unresponsive after being exposed to methadone . Officer Price assisted in CPR and administered two doses of Narcan which resulted in the child regaining consciousness . The child was transported to the hospital for further treatment .
OFFICERS CLAY CLARKSON AND DWAYNE JONES
On December 29 , 2023 , Officers Clarkson and Jones responded to the 1800 block of Inglewood Drive for a report of an unconscious male in a vehicle . Upon arrival , they found the occupant was unresponsive in the locked vehicle and both officers determined that he had more than likely overdosed . Officers Clarkson and Jones were able to force entry through the rear window to access the inside of the vehicle . Officer Clarkson provided Narcan to Officer Jones who administered one dose to the occupant in medical distress . They assisted in moving the occupant from the vehicle where , when placed on the stretcher , he regained consciousness . The patient was able to recover completely thanks to the quick actions of both Officer Clarkson and Officer Jones .
