5 Things for March from Monterey County Free Libraries
   In a blink of the eye , we are in the third month of the year , March , when we celebrate the vernal equinox ( March 19 ) which is officially the first day of spring and
   Women’s History Month
   ! This month we will lift the voices of women authors throughout the month by highlighting them on a weekly social media post . Watch our Tuesday morning posts for the author of the week . Also check out displays in the branches which will highlight books about Women’s History and spring events .
   This month we also celebrate
   Read Across AmericaDay on
   March 2
    , to encourage reading and literacy for all . Some branches have fun activities planned this month to celebrate Read Across America Day . Ask at your local branch for programs .
   Most Monterey County Free Libraries branches host a regular preschool story time , reading books and singing songs with some of our youngest patrons . Through a grant from the Packard Foundation , administered by the California State Library , we have purchased a plethora of fun toys for young children so that caregivers and children can
   Stay & Playfollowing story time . We are excited to add new branches to the
   Stay & Play programso that all our communities can visit the library for more free fun . Ask about Stay & Play programs at your local branch .
   The week of
   March 3 through 9we are highlighting
   National Consumer Protection Awareness Week
    . Many people experience online scams sent directly to their email inbox or get frequent SPAM calls and texts to their cell phones . It frustrating and scary since it’s hard to know what to trust . We will do several social media posts this month to direct patrons to resources to help them protect themselves as consumers .

    . This is an excellent resource for those interested in learning more about stock and investing money , providing financial research and analysis of 3 , 400 large , mid , and small cap stocks . Value Line allows 5 concurrent logins and is available 24/7 from our
