Happy New Year from the City of Midlothian! The 2024 lineup of special events organized by Parks and Rec includes 24 free , family - friendly activities , including the ever - popular Kids Fishing Derby , concerts , parades , and more . This year’s schedule also includes an event that occurs every 20 years or so - - the total solar eclipse watch on Monday , April 8 .  
   “Special events are an important way to bring our community together , ” says Mayor Justin Coffman . He invites everyone to join him at the year’s first event , the
   Mayor’s Annual Winter Walkto be held on Saturday , February 17 , 10 a . m . to Noon , at Mockingbird Nature Trail , 1361 Onward Road .  This unique event takes a look at the Texas prairie landscape in winter during a one - mile walk , guided by the Texas Master Naturalists , Indian Trail Chapter . The event is free , but registration is requested .
   The annual array of events has a general appeal with an emphasis on fun for the whole family . Print out the
