1/3/24 Update:
Newtown Township was notified this morning that JD Eckman requested of PennDOT an additional 24 hours to maintain the traffic pattern on SR 0003 EB at College Avenue . This request is due to the fact that they were unable to get all the materials they needed to finish installing the Type 10 inlet box and will need the additional time to complete their work . This will mean that the overnight work on West Chester Pike at College Avenue will continue for one more night . They apologize for any inconvenience .

Roadway Construction Scheduled on Route 3 ( West Chester Pike ) in Newtown Township

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation ( PennDOT ) announced today that roadway construction will continue next week on Route 3 ( West Chester Pike ) in Newtown Township , Delaware County , under a local safety improvement project .
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
Tuesday , January 2 , 2024 , through Friday , January 5 , 2024 , from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning , a lane closure is scheduled on Route 3 ( West Chester Pike ) in both directions between Boot Road and Bryn Mawr Avenue .
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur . All scheduled activities are weather dependent .

Additional Information Received Regarding College Avenue
The workers who are installing new stormwater infrastructure as part of the West Chester Pike project have received permission from PennDOT for a continuous lane restriction on West Chester Pike in the area of College Avenue beginning Tuesday 1/2/24 9:00 AM through Wednesday 1/3/2024 3:00 PM . JD Eckman will be working overnight and also through Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning rush hours to complete the installation of the Type 10 inlet structure . This is due to the nature of the work and the large size of the structure . During this work , College Avenue and the driveways along West Chester Pike will still be open for use by residents .
The overnight work taking place next week is necessary so that the stormwater inlet box can be placed and so that the new stormwater pipe that crosses West Chester Pike can be installed .
