   POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
   Administrative Assistant II – Community Development
   The Village of Vernon Hills is seeking a candidate for the position of Administrative Assistant II in the Community Development Department.  This full time, non-exempt position reports to the Director of Community Development.   The hours for the position are 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
    
   JOB SUMMARY:
     This position is responsible for performing various routine clerical, administrative, and general office duties involving typing, records, phone and file maintenance.   Significant contact with village residents and contractors is an integral part of this position.
    
   RESPONSIBILITIES:
   Serves as the initial contact at the Village Hall for residents and contractors or persons having business with the Village.  Receives telephone calls, responds to or forwards correspondence, including letter and/or emails on behalf of the Community Development Department.
   Schedules inspections and follows up as needed.
   Review application submittals, process new applications along with inspections and results.  
   Process and distribute Certificate of Occupancy.
   Prepare and maintain all Community Development Department reports.
   Process and distribute building applications, certificates of insurance, licenses, etc.
   Possess knowledge of industry terminology and procedures.
   Administers licensing process for 1) general business, 2) sales and serving of liquor, 3) massage establishments, 4) jewelry stores, and 5) vending machines.
   Performs other duties as required or assigned by the Director of Community Development.
   REQUIREMENTS:  
   The following requirements must be met:
   High school diploma or equivalent.
   Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
   One to two years in general office experience/administrative assistant work.
   Accurate typing ability.
   Proficiency with current computer software systems including email, calendar programs and Microsoft Office.
   Passage of a pre-employment physical, drug screen, criminal background check, motor vehicle history report, employment and reference checks.
   Successful completion of a twelve-month introductory period.
   SALARY RANGE:
     The salary range for this position is $53,280 - $72,008/annually.  Starting salary is generally at the entry step of the range.
