A historic marker was recently unveiled in downtown West Monroe honoring Webb Pierce , a native of West Monroe and a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame .
   The marker was unveiled August 26 as part of the Northeast Louisiana Music Trail . Friends , family and fans gathered to view the unveiling including Pierce ' s son Webb Pierce Jr .
   Michael Webb Pierce was born in 1921 in West Monroe . He is considered a major recording artist and performer and had 13 No . 1 hits and was a headliner on the Louisiana Hayride and Grand Ole Opry . Some of his hits included "Wondering , " "There Stands the Glass" and "In the Jailhouse Now . " Webb Pierce was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001 .
   The marker is located in a public parking lot at the corner of Trenton and Wood Streets in downtown West Monroe . The video link below highlights the recent unveiling ceremony:
