( Etowah , Tennessee – April 20 , 2022 ) The City of Etowah is saddened to learn the news of Waupaca Foundry’s idling of production lines and reduction of workforce at its Plant 6 , Etowah location . Since 2001 , Waupaca Foundry has been a vital community partner and a key component in Etowah’s efforts to diversify and expand its industrial sector . While the idling of Plant 6 appears to be the consequence of global and nationwide manufacturing and economic challenges , we firmly believe that Etowah , Tennessee remains a great place to live and to make a living . We appreciate Waupaca Foundry , its plant leadership and especially the hardworking people who make up its local workforce . We remain hopeful and optimistic about the future of Plant 6 here in Etowah and will continue to work with our partners at the Economic Development Authority and McMinn County in the pursuit of economic growth and quality job opportunities for our citizens .
