General Purpose:
This position is a staff member of the Park County Sheriff’s Office, Victim Services Program and provides direct services to victims of crime as defined by Colorado Revised Statute; Victim Rights Act. This position works under the direction of the Victim Services Director and Assistant Director/ Undersheriff/Sheriff.
Location:
Based in Fairplay (providing coverage primarily for the Southern end of Park County).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General Advocacy: As assigned by the Director, this position will provide crisis “on
call” services
Follow up services to victims of crime as indicated
Participate in program activities: Program Development, Education/Awareness, etc.
Volunteer coordination for the Fairplay, Jefferson, Alma, Lake George and Guffey areas including:
Assist Director and staff in the recruitment process of new volunteers
General Program Data Collection:
Retrieve and compile Satisfaction Survey results
Ensure Victim Services tracking database is current with all victim contacts
Nature of Contact with Others:
On a daily basis, this position requires contact with the general public, other county employees, victims of crime, law enforcement agencies, court personnel and other government agencies to exchange information, find workable solutions and be informative about victim rights. Additionally, this position has on-going contact with local, regional/State government and non-profit service agencies.
Responsibility for Property, Material, Money and Confidential Information:
This position is responsible for the equipment used in the performance of the job including: telephone, computer, fax, printer, digital camera, copier, calculator, digital radio and county car. Confidentiality of information is subject to the Colorado Open Records Act. This position is responsible to account for grant and county funds related to the Victim Services Program.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit and stand; to use hands and fingers and to reach with hands and arms. The employee may be exposed to extreme weather conditions in the performance of the job as required when responding to “on scene” calls for victims of crime. Additionally, this employee is required to walk on uneven terrain in mountainous areas and is required to respond “on scene” at night. The office work environment is typical of an office setting and is subject to interruptions, multiple phone calls and inquiries. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
