For many people in our community , you don’t know who they are . Most will never have to talk to them , but when we need them , they ' re always there . These voices calmly gather information from people whose lives are suddenly turned upside down . These voices ensure that help arrives quickly . They are the unsung heroes behind all emergency responders .
   Public Safety Telecommunications is the vital link between residents in need with help from first responders . Every day they calmly and professionally ensure that help is on the way .
   At the April 11th Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting , Mayor Stan Joyner proclaimed April 10 - 16 , 2022 as “National Public Safety Telecommunications Week” in Collierville . He presented a proclamation to Dispatchers Ale Munos and Amber Sternberger ( pictured ) . The Collierville Police Department has 16 total dispatchers who are on hand 24 hours a day to ensure that any emergency or crisis is dispatched quickly .
   In his proclamation , the Mayor stated , “Public Safety Telecommunicators of the Collierville Police Department have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals , suppression of fires and treatment of patients . And while doing so , each dispatcher has exhibited compassion , understanding , and professionalism during the performance of their job in the past year . ”
