For the 2022 growing season , the City of Louisville has implemented temporary mowing on perimeters of select public lands , including Open Space , Parks , and Coal Creek Golf Course , which are adjacent to private property boundaries .   This interim mowing plan is in response to citizen concerns and will be in addition to the City ' s routine mowing practices . The work will be conducted by a combination of City staff and contractors and will be mowed a minimum of twice this year ( summer and late fall ) based on vegetation conditions and weather .
   Additionally , the City of Louisville will be working with a professional wildfire hazard and assessment contractor on a new Wildfire Mitigation Plan for public lands to provide long - term recommendations on vegetation management . This plan will consider the role of ongoing perimeter mowing in future wildfire mitigation , other mitigation strategies , and feasibility of implementation .
