     - - The Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners today encouraged Gadsden County businesses and residents to participate in a broadband internet survey and the Department of Economic Opportunity ( DEO ) internet speed test .   
    
   The data collected from the surveys and the speed test will support Gadsden’s efforts in seeking grant funds to improve broadband services in areas lacking high - speed internet connectivity .  
    
   The survey period begins Thursday , September 23 , 2022 , and ends Friday , October 21 , 2022 , at 4 p . m . EST .
    
   “In the tech - savvy world that we live in today , it has become imperative that every resident of Gadsden County has internet access , ” Gadsden County Board Chairman Ronterious “Ron , ” Green said . “The Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners needs everyone to participate in this important survey . The future of technology in this County is in the hands of those who take the time to be part of our internet access solution . ”
    
   The surveys can also be completed online through links provided on Gadsden County’s Broadband Community webpage at

   Paper surveys are available at Gadsden County Public libraries and the cities of Gretna , Greensboro , and Midway city halls or by contacting the Gadsden County Public Information Office at 850 - 875 - 8671 .

Through these partnerships , the Office of Broadband encourages investment in grant funding opportunities for the broadband program that focuses on expanding broadband .
    
   Florida’s Broadband Availability Map and Internet Speed Test
   The DEO has developed Florida’s Broadband Availability Map to identify broadband internet service availability throughout the state . The Broadband Availability Map identifies a location’s speed , connectivity , and access to broadband services . These insights allow the state of Florida to better identify and reach unserved and underserved areas of the state . The map will be an asset to local communities and internet service providers to assist with broadband planning efforts .
    
   As part of DEO’s efforts to encourage public participation and collaboration and ensure a high level of transparency , the Florida Broadband Availability Map will be continuously updated at

    . The map is not complete and will continue to be updated as more data is added and changes in broadband availability are identified .
    
   Gadsden County residents and businesses have an opportunity to participate in the mapping effort by conducting a simple speed test that can be completed on any device at a home or business with an internet connection by going to
