The Danville Metropolitan Planning Organization continues to gather public input on traffic congestion and safety concerns along the Piney Forest Road corridor . A survey is available through the end of May .

Proposed traffic , bicycle , pedestrian , and transit improvements have been developed as part of a planning study for Piney Forest Road . The study area is a 2 . 6 - mile corridor from Holt Garrison Parkway ( vicinity of Coleman Marketplace ) to Franklin Turnpike .
The purpose of the study is to identify strategies and improvements to address existing and future traffic congestion , safety concerns , and the ability to more comfortably walk , bicycle , and use transit in the corridor .
The study is being conducted by the West Piedmont Planning District Commission in partnership with the Virginia Department of Transportation . EPR is providing engineering and planning assistance on the project .
