The Mount Prospect Human Services Department is hosting a Suicide Prevention Awareness Community Event on September 21 at Mount Prospect Village Hall in the Farley Community Room , 1st Floor , 50 S . Emerson Street , Mount Prospect .
Suicide impacts every community and all age groups . In 2020 , suicide was the 12th leading cause of death for all ages in the United States . Our hope is that this event will promote dialogue , support and awareness of resources that are available to assist those in need of help .
The event will feature:
Resource Fair - 4:30 – 6:30 p . m . - a number of local agencies that provide mental health services in the community will be in attendance
Awareness Walk ( 1 mile ) – Departs from Village Hall at 5:30 p . m .
Speaker Presentations – 6:30 – 7:30 p . m . - Laura Kane ( Marshmallow’s Hope ) and Ryan Shannon will present on their lived experience with suicide
Parents considering bringing young children , please be advised that speakers will present on their lived experience with suicide .
