☷Strikeout softball tournament highlights Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month

The champions of the first annual SAAPM 2022 Strikeout Softball Tournament the U . S . Army 75th Ranger Regiment , gathered for a photo with the Fort Benning SHARP team members . Soldiers from Fort Benning came together to compete in the first annual Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month ( SAAPM ) Strikeout Softball Tournament at Fort Benning , Ga . , on April 27 . The U . S . Army Maneuver Center of Excellence command group , the CG’s All - Stars softball team , and the U . S . Army 75th Ranger Regiment competed in a friendly competition to support the program , held at Gowdy Field . Fort Benning’s Sexual Harassment Assault Response and Prevention ( SHARP ) Response Coordinator , U . S . Army 1st Sgt . Kizzie Brown - Horne with Charlie Company , 3rd Battalion , 81st Armored Regiment , 199th Infantry Brigade said this year’s theme is prevention , a message the entire community needs to hear . It’s a growing element that shifts with social needs , ” explained Brown - Horne . “The object of prevention is to stop something from happening , and , for this to occur , it requires an act or actions . These actions must be in accordance with the fair treatment of others . Treating others in this manner will halt the occurrence of sexual misconduct , which affirms that prevention is key to eliminating sexual assault within our force . ” As the U . S . Army 75h Ranger Regiment Victim Advocate , Charlotte Santana is excited for her team to be participating in the event had an extra meaning to her . “Prevention is the cornerstone of SHARP , ” said Santana . “We all have to take ownership of being the first to say , "I am responsible for prevention , " Rangers lead the way , ” said Santana .
