☷ Bloomfield Township New Jersey - Statewide Ban On Single Use Plastic Bags Takes Effect May 4

BLOOMFIELD , NJ –
Beginning on May 4 , retail stores , grocery stores and food service businesses in New Jersey can not provide or sell single - use plastic carryout bags or polystyrene foam food service products in an effort aimed at curbing environmental impact .
Additionally , grocery stores larger than 2 , 500 square feet will not be allowed to provide or sell single - use paper carryout bags . These stores will only be permitted to sell reusable bags to their customers .
“Very shortly , businesses in Bloomfield and across New Jersey will no longer be able to provide the single - use items that we have all grown accustomed to as consumers , ”
said Mayor Venezia .
“We are working to make sure that everyone is aware of this upcoming change so that the transition can occur as smoothly as possible , and I encourage the businesses in our community to solidify their plans in order to limit any possible disruptions to your customers . ”
