Under the general supervision of the Pool Supervisor, the Slide Attendant is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of those using the Recreation Center swimming pools and Peterson Pool at Clague Park.  The major responsibility is to make sure the pool patrons meet the height requirement for the water slide and that slide riders are following the slide rules and regulations.

    Requirements:
   Must have knowledge of water hazards, first aid, be able to recognize hazardous situations and adopt effective courses of action
   Must have effective communication skills and engage positively with the public
   Must be available and flexible to work various hours during the week and weekend
    Pre-employment drug screening and background check
     
   Physical skills:
   While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, kneel, stand, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects.  The position requires mobility.  The position requires proficient swimming ability and the proper application of first-aid techniques.
   Responsibilities:
   Following and carrying out all of the workplace expectations and policies of the City of Westlake and the Westlake Recreation Center
    T
   o enforce the rules and regulations of the slide and pool facility 
   To warn swimmer of improper activities or hazards 
   To notify the Supervisor of any accidents, rescues, or problems that have arisen 
   To report to the Aquatic Manager any equipment that is in need of repair 
   To successfully and positively perform within work team dynamics 
   Adherence to Workplace Expectations, encompassing communication, working relations, job reliability and initiative, safety, accomplishment of work tasks and supervision 
   To answer inquiries pertaining to use of the pool 
   To direct all helpful suggestions from participants and other to your direct supervisor 
   Attend scheduled in-service training 
   To maintain attendance and activity record and complete required reports 
   To provide periodic supervision and custodial needs of locker rooms 
   To perform other duties as may be assigned by their supervisors 
   To assist in cleaning and maintaining the pool and related areas and facilities 
   Arrive to work every day, on time as scheduled
   
   Reports to Aquatics Manager or his designee
    Qualifications:
   Current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/FPR cards preferred but not required.
