SHELBY COUNTY , TN – The Shelby County Health Department ( SCHD ) will join other state and local public health agencies to celebrate
   National Public Health Week
   during the week of
   April 4 – 10 , 2022
    .  
   National Public Health Week is a nationwide observance designed to highlight the work that public health agencies do all year long to improve the public’s health . The theme of this year’s celebration is “Public Health is Where You Are , ” to recognize that all public health is local . Improving the health of people in communities right here in Shelby County impacts the ultimate goal of becoming a healthier nation .  
   SCHD is planning several free events and services open to the public in order to celebrate National Public Health Week and encourage health and wellness: 
   Thursday , April 7 , 2022
   Daily Theme - World Health Day: Health is a Human Right
   : Join us at the Shelby Farms Park Greenline ( State Road at Mullins Station Road ) at 4:00 p . m . on Thursday , April 7 , 2022 for a 2 - mile walk/run/community health fair . Partnering organizations will set up tables along the route featuring giveaways and health information .  
   Saturday , April 9 , 2022 Daily Theme - Climate Change: Taking Action for Equity
   : Shelby County Health Department partners with the Memphis Food Waste Task Force and Memphis Made Brewery for the “Love Food , Hate Waste” event at Memphis Made taproom , 768 Cooper Avenue from 12:00 p . m . to 4:00 p . m . Learn ways to stop food waste to save money , improve your diet and reduce greenhouse emissions .  
   Sunday , April 10 , 2022 Daily Theme - Mental Wellness: Redefining the Meaning of Health:
   Join us for community yoga at 12:00 p . m . at Delta Groove Yoga , 2091 Madison Avenue . Learn how Kundalini Yoga can combat depression during this free community yoga class .  
   Sunday , April 10 , 2022 Daily Theme – Redefining the Meaning of Health: 
   Pet health is important , too! The Shelby County Health Department will offer free rabies vaccinations and license tags to the first 250 pets at a drive - thru rabies vaccination clinic at 1826 Sycamore View Road from 10:00 a . m . to 1:00 p . m . or while supplies last .  
    
   Shelby County Health Department Director Dr . Michelle Taylor said , “The Shelby County Health Department offers a wealth of services to the public to promote , protect and improve the health of all in Shelby County .
