Kathy Shackelford Thrift , age 68 of Hartfield Virginia , passed away on May 1 , 2022 . She was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church and a former member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Upper Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department in Water View . Kathy served the citizens of Middlesex County for over 20 years , culminating with her service as the County Treasurer for the last 3 years . Previously she was employed with Chesapeake Corporation in West Point and Urbanna Auto and Marine .
    
    Kathy’s hobbies included quilting , painting , crafting , music , shopping , singing , playing piano , and spending time with her family , including watching her grandson Landon play sports .
    
    Kathy was predeceased by her parents , Robert E . and Vivian M . Shackelford . She is survived by her husband , William C . Thrift; daughter , Sherry T . Williams and her husband Wesley; and grandson , Landon Hayes Williams .
   The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday , May 4 , 2022 , at Faulkner Funeral Homes , Bristow - Faulkner Chapel in Saluda . A service to celebrate Kathy’s life will be held at 11 AM Thursday , May 5 , 2022 , in Hermitage Baptist Church , 94 Ware’s Bridge Rd . in Church View , Virginia with interment following in the Church Cemetery . Memorial contributions can be made to the Hermitage Baptist Church Music Fund , P . O . Box 190 , Church View , Virginia 23032 .
