The Operator, Service Equipment is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing water and sewer infrastructure. This position is also required to perform inspections and maintenance of equipment and tools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Inspects and/or repairs booster pump stations, meters, drainage systems and wastewater systems at frequent intervals to insure that all aspects of the system are functioning properly.
Maintain a variety of records relating to inspections and maintenance activity.
Determine the location of gas, telephone, power, television, water and sewer lines from the appropriate sources prior to excavation.
Contact residents and business owners in area where services will be discontinued and explain when service will be shut off and how soon service will be turned back on.
Insure the proper maintenance and cleanliness of equipment and tools prior to and after use.
Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to the supervisor.
Performs unskilled manual labor, as necessary, in a variety of maintenance and construction projects within the Water/Wastewater Division.
Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including, but not limited to; pavement cutting, ditch digging, main and pipe repair, laying and backfilling.
Cuts, fit, lay, tap, clean, repair, and flush water mains. Install services, fire hydrants, and assists in shutting off broken sections of water main.
Display the ability and willingness to learn Water and Sewer procedures
