Winooski Recreation and Parks are a proud partner with the
   Vermont Youth Development Corps ( VYDC )
    program (
   AmeriCorps
    ) and are looking to welcome a new member! VYDC places full - time and part - time members across Vermont to implement diverse youth initiatives , fostering positive development and building resilience .
   The
   VYDC - Winooski - Recreation Operations AmeriCorps Member
    runs a new slate of summer recreation programs . The member plans , sets up , implements , & follows up , as well as collaborates with youth & staff to provide emotional support & ensure a high - quality program . The member coordinates transportation , volunteers , & other community partners . Programs are at the Myers Memorial Pool , O’Brien Community Center , or a city park . Must be comfortable engaging a team of volunteers & interacting with a diverse group of youth . The member gains experience in program operations , building partnerships , & outreach strategies . Preference to those with language proficiency in Swahili , Nepali , Arabic , Somali , Bosnian , or Bhutanese . Minimum age: 21 . Travel: valid license & clean driving record; local travel to various parks & city buildings . Send resume , cover letter , & contact information for 3 references who can speak to character .
   To be eligible to become an AmeriCorps Member , you must:
   be 21 or older
   Have your summer housing secured in the Burlington area
   Be able to complete 305 hours between June through September  
   Spend approximately 5 hours with the AmeriCorps team , including an orientation
   Pass a National Service Criminal History Check
   Apply by the deadline: June 10 , 2022 ( rolling acceptance )
   Benefits include:
   AmeriCorps pay of $2 , 912 for the entire service term
   Education award of $1 , 342 upon successful completion of service
