    POSITION SUMMARY
   San Miguel County is seeking a positive, ethical, customer service driven Senior Property Appraiser responsible for performing Residential, Land, and Mobile Home appraisals and data gathering functions used in determining appraisals for ad-valorem purposes, applying appraisal theory and valuations.
   The Senior Property Appraiser responds to taxpayer inquiries about property valuations and performs review work necessary for the processing of appeals filed by taxpayers regarding property valuation assessments. Additionally, the position prepares cases and presents statistical analysis and market reviews for Board of County Commissioner (BOCC) hearings and abatement hearings. Furthermore, the position assists with the preparation of higher level appeals and cases in preparation for District Court, Arbitration or the State Board of Assessment Appeals. Finally, the position performs revisions to the appraisal system to reflect changes initiated by the Mapper.
   The position will report directly to the County Assessor and Appraisal Supervisor and will be compensated at a Grade 29, Step 1 -8 pay rate, ranging from $25.93 - $30.83 per hour, dependent on relevant years of experience in the profession/industry and according to the County’s existing classification and compensation scale. In order for the successful candidate to be offered a Grade 29 pay rate according to the County’s existing classification and compensation scale, it is required that the successful candidate must possess a current State of Colorado Ad Valorem & Licensed Appraisers License. As a full-time position, the Senior Property Appraiser will be eligible for all County-sponsored insurance and benefit plans.
