Implements maintenance plans for the agronomic, irrigation/climatic (water/weather), and fertility needs of the golf course and associated vegetation. Executes fertilizer, weed control, and other chemical treatments according to regulations. Assists the Superintendent with irrigation, maintaining, programming, repairing, redesigning, and developing the system. Teach, train and inform team members on best maintenance and safety practices. Recognize, acknowledge and support initiative.
Supports and assists the Superintendent by leading a crew of seasonal staff on assigned work. Serves as second in charge and may step in for the Golf Course Superintendent when absent. Motivates, inspires, and mentors team members to reach their greatest potential. Is open, approachable, engages and supports team members, and encourages two-way communication and feedback.
Operates and ensures safe and proper operation and maintenance of the division’s small and heavy equipment resources. Assists the Superintendent in providing regular operational and safety training. Maintains proper documentation and record keeping.
Assists the Superintendent with repair and/or construction of facilities and amenities including greens, tee boxes, fairways, sand bunkers, practice facilities, shelters, bathrooms, fences, pro shop and other related golf equipment and facilities.
Assists the Superintendent managing service contracts, construction contracts and may coordinate with other departments and agencies on cooperative projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
