   DESCRIPTION OF WORK 
   Under the general supervision of the Assistant Parks, Recreation & Trails Director, this professional recreation position will perform a variety of professional, administrative and managerial duties related to planning, organizing, and supervising the operations of the Recreation Programs. This position is expected to work independently within the recreation team in organizing, promoting, managing and supervising recreation center, recreational activities, events, classes and programs. This position also assists in budget preparation, hiring and supervision of assigned staff.
    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
   The following duty statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may be required. The Town of Snowmass Village reserves the right to modify or change the duties or essential functions of this job at any time. 
   Plans, establishes and organizes classes, lessons and recreation programs designed to meet the recreation needs of various groups or categories of participants, i.e. community groups, youth, teens, adults and family.
   Adheres to and enforces all Department and Town policies.
   Coordinates the activities of all Recreation Program staff; plans, prioritizes and assigns tasks and projects.
   Assists with the hiring, training and coaching of staff, monitors work, develops staff skills, and assists with the evaluation of performance; meets regularly with staff to discuss and resolve workload and technical issues; develops goals and priorities.
   Prepares, develops and maintains necessary computer software (RecTrac) records and submits various reports of program activities to the Parks, Recreation & Trails Director and Assistant Director as requested.
   Monitors program activity to assure quality and serve as trouble shooter; supervises the operation and activities of such programs as adult/youth sporting activities, Summer Camp, sport camps, etc; determines necessary components (i.e. staff, instructors, facilities,equipment, fees, volunteers, game officials and umpires, etc.)
   Oversees programs; youth and adult recreation programs and activities; works with all instructors and personal trainers.
   Serves as liaison and advisor to various committees and sports interest groups; coordinates and implements actions as needed to best serve community interests.
   Provides general supervision over recreation programs; may officiate or referee games, teach fitness, swimming or assist in coaching.
   Coordinates program marketing and advertising, creates brochures, radio ads, newspaper ads, etc.; utilizes various media vehicles to reach all segments of the public and educate in recreation programs
   Performs general public relations as needed to address concerns and interests of the public; addresses various groups and clubs
   Coordinates access to local facilities; responsible for the security of recreational facilities, buildings, and surrounding areas. Assures a safe environment both indoors and outdoors through periodic safety checks of facilities and equipment.
   Coordinates scheduled upkeep and maintenance of facility; cleans floors, walls, windows, water equipment, etc.; cleans and polishes; operates vacuum to clean carpeted areas; sweeps and dusts; monitors general activities of facility to assure safety. 
   Assists with the hiring and evaluation of staffing decisions for all recreation programs. Coordinates the programs through recreation staff and is directly responsible for coordinating all part-time, and seasonal program and recreation staff.
   Prepares division budget and makes revenue projections; submits to Parks, Recreation & Trails Director or Assistant Director for review and approval; monitors on-going expenditures to assure compliance with fiscal goals; establishes fee schedules for program participation; aids in the preparation of bids and the purchasing of required equipment as necessary.
   Prepares yearly calendars of recreational activities; prepares and distributes program schedules, dates and time.
   Works weekends, holidays and varied schedules including evening and night shifts, as needed.
   Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with program participants, outside agencies, department staff, and the general public.
   Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, the public, ability to communicate.
   Provides a high level of professionalism and custom service at all times in accordance with department’s staff expectation agreement; establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with all co-workers, clients, professional contacts and community members; communicates respectfully and clearly; identifies and takes care of areas needing attention; expected to be on time and work when business demands require.
   Performs other duties as assigned, required or requested.

   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 
   Ability to conduct activities involving walking, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, twisting, reaching and balancing on a moderate basis. Ability to work at a desk for prolonged periods of time; sitting, typing, answer the phone, etc. Physical ability to perform essential functions of the job including handling program equipment and supplies as well as actively participating in recreational activities is required. Position may require long periods of standing or sitting as well as periods of kneeling or squatting. Lifting: 50 pounds frequently, 100 pounds occasionally. 
   ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS 
   Work is primarily performed in recreation center, parks and office environment. Position may require working outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions. Incumbent may experience exposure to weather conditions and temperature changes, dust, fumes, odors and pool chemicals.
