Job Title: RECORDER CLERK
Department: RECORDER’S OFFICE
Starting Salary: $29,295 (RANGE 48)
Under immediate supervision, records, documents, and indexes legal documents, maintains listing of registered voters and collects recording fee.

Records documents which are assigned a reference number (docket and page) and fee number; documents are microfilmed and inserted into microfilm jackets; makes copies and provides receipts for fees paid; collects fees, certifies recorded copies and issues receipts; records, indexes, and files documents; verifies authenticity of documents and inspects for omissions; answers questions relating to recording procedures; assists public in locating documents.
Enters information from voter registration form into computer, including address, party affiliation, district, and precinct; prepares signature rosters for elections and separate according to precinct; mail out “early ballots”; assists people in filling out voter registration forms; prints voter registration lists for candidates; indexes deeds and other documents for computer input, including the names of seller(s) and buyer(s) along with the selling price.
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Characteristics
Knowledge of state statutes governing the recording of documents.
Knowledge of voter registration procedures.
Knowledge of deeds, mortgages, liens, judgments, and releases of mortgages.
Knowledge of recording practices and techniques.
Knowledge of County election practices.
Skill in operating office equipment, including copier, printer, map machine, computer terminal, typewriter, and calculator.
Skill in recording and assigning docket and page for each document.
Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, County staff, and the general public.
One (1) year of clerical office experience.
