PURPOSE
Position is temporary, seasonal (summer) to assist the Public Works Department with manual duties, primarily outdoors. This position will require a time commitment of 40 hours per week. The position duration is from May to September 2022.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform manual tasks in connection with maintaining the Township’s infrastructure, properties, and equipment; specifically:
· cleaning, scraping, and painting
· general landscaping, including gardening, planting, weeding and watering as well as operating a power trimmer
· clean-up litter and general maintenance related to the upkeep of the Township road system to include cleaning and repair of culverts, drains and ditches, loading and unloading trucks, spreading asphalt, gravel, and dirt, and raking, tamping, and smoothing applied materials
· general repairs and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment
Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and entire body movement.
Comprehend and follow applicable safety rules and regulations.
Maintain a respectful working relationship with the public and fellow employees.
Perform other duties as necessary.
Work will be primarily outdoors.
Individual must have the ability to follow instructions, perform labor tasks, possess a working knowledge and above basic skill level in operating and maintaining various power tools, and possess a working knowledge of general maintenance procedures.
EDUCATION LEVEL
High school degree or GED equivalent. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Applicant must pass several background checks and a drug and alcohol test.
