Assists in performing manual work in repairing water leaks. Some duties include locating water lines and other utilities by hand work, preparing the work area around the pipe, fixing the leak with a repair clamp or pipe replacement, back-filling and compacting the excavation, and cleaning up the area.
Assists in installing water services and main water leaks. Some duties include digging trenches, tapping main lines, installing water line material, back-filling, compacting the excavation, and cleaning up the area.
Assists in the repair and installation of fire hydrants throughout the City system. This requires digging a trench, tying the hydrant line to the main line, setting the hydrant, back-filling, and compacting the excavation.
Assists in performing manual work in street maintenance to include patching trench cuts in streets, repairing potholes, and fixing failed street areas. Some duties include operating a jack hammer, removing loose materials by shovel, installing asphalt patches according to City requirements, operating a roller, and cleaning up the area.
Assists in maintaining and installing traffic control, information signs, and barricades throughout the City.
Assists in the operation of the painting machine to paint markings on streets such as land stripes, cross walks, curb markings, and other items. Helps maintain paint machine by performing thorough cleaning and minor repairs.
Assists in maintaining and cleaning tools and equipment used in performing work. Helps in performing minor equipment repairs.
Assists in operating light equipment. Helps maintain the equipment by doing daily maintenance checks and reporting deficiencies to the supervisor.
Assists in the maintenance of storm drainage system by periodic cleaning of ditches, storm piping, and curbs. Assists in construction of drainage systems.
Assists in keeping Service Center building and grounds clean and orderly.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Part time benefits: 48 hours of sick leave per year.
