PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
   CITY OF BOWLING GREEN, OHIO
   Pay Band 7:   $99,000 - $106,000
    This salaried, exempt executive position is responsible leading and managing the Public Works Department; providing professional direction to staff; and providing executive support to City projects and activities. The position is responsible for the development, management, and monitoring of the department budget, managing all department projects such as but not limited to Street/Sidewalk repair, catch basin repair, operation of the City’s Refuse/Recycling program, snow removal, Buildings/Grounds maintenance and construction, street/roadway/facilities constructions, etc. Responsible for the management and operation of maintaining the City’s fleet of vehicles and equipment. Provides management oversite of Oak Grove Cemetery. Reviews and comments on all subdivision plats, site plans, and other private projects. Reviews and recommends legislative changes within purview of the Public Works Department.  Responds to citizen complaints. Provides assistance with special events within the City. Reports to City Council on a periodic basis or when needed; meets with committees; is the staff liaison for the Sidewalk Commission. Provides public speaking to service organizations and citizen groups. Attends conferences and training sessions.  Performs other related duties as assigned or outlined in the administrative code.  Four-year college degree; five to seven years of relevant management experience with a background in engineering, project management, construction management, or related field; valid Ohio Driver’s License; or any combination of education, training and work experience which provides the required skill sets to perform the essential functions of the job.    Working with boards/commissions/City Councils/elected bodies;
   8.
       
   Managing and/or supervising personnel;
   9.
       
   Working with computers and computer software; and
   10.
       
   Short-term and long-term planning (establishing/meeting goals, making changes/improvements, etc.)
