The Maricopa County Department of Public Health is accepting applications for a Public Health Community Liaison.
As a Public Health Community Liaison for the Central Region/Phoenix, you will make a difference and be the link of communication between stakeholders, elected officials, and community partners and foster open and effective community relations. The Public Health Community Liaison facilitates collaboration with community leaders to develop options and resources by identifying trends, issues, and concerns and provides recommendations for addressing community public health topics.
Essential Job Tasks

Facilitates and builds strong partnerships between MCDPH and its stakeholders to support emergent public health issues through information gathering and resources alignment to address community health issues
Communicates with MCDPH leadership to provide timely and well-researched information on public health matters
Works collaboratively across government departments and community organizations, preferably in the Central Region, to improve the health and wellness of Maricopa County residents within this region
Responds to questions and concerns and makes referrals while remaining an impartial member of the organization; problem solves issues regarding government public health and public policy
Evaluates existing public health community engagement efforts within the assigned region and develops a strategy to work collaboratively with community leaders and public and private stakeholders to increase the visibility of public health services
Produces professional reports with recommended actions, including meeting summaries, projects, program initiatives, and customer trends for director-level staff
Reviews and resolves countywide complaints and concerns received by the director's office via phone calls, e-mails, walk-in customers, contractors, vendors, and other public entities; advises management of issues/findings and responds to consumers and community concerns; advises the director's office on sensitive issues and trends
Increases the participation of all communities within Maricopa County in data collection efforts such as the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHA/CHNA) and the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) to ensure equitable representation from county residents in decision making
Experience
Five years of experience managing projects of large-scale public health, social service, or community engagement initiatives with government officials and community organizations
OR
A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
Other Requirements
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
