The Grandview Heights Division of Police is accepting applications for an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer. Eligibility Lists, upon approval of the Grandview Heights Civil Service Commission, are valid for a period of one (1) year.
Lateral transfers with at least two years of continuous experience, without a break in service as a full-time police officer in Ohio, are highly encouraged to apply.

Lateral applicants are eligible for an advanced step starting salary and vacation benefits commensurate with the applicant’s continuous years of service with the agency by which they were employed immediately prior to being hired.

Salary Information:
Starting Police Officer - $64,195.06
After 1 year - $70,549.85
After 2 years - $78,305.03
(Lateral with 2 years prior experience starting pay)
After 3 years - $86,911.05
(Lateral with 3 years prior experience starting pay)
After 4 years - $96,467.64
(Lateral with 4 or more years prior experience starting pay)
After 5 years - $99,361.77
Shift differential of $1.30 for all hours worked on second and third shift.

Hiring Process:
Step 1 – Submit written examination test scores, required documents, and NTN personal history questionnaire

Step 3 – Candidates who successfully pass the written examination will be invited to a physical agility test (pass/fail)
Step 4 – The top 10 candidates on the eligibility list will be invited to a panel interview
Step 5 – Background Investigation, to include a CVSA truth verification examination
Step 6 – Medical, drug/alcohol screening, and psychological examination

Department Overview:
The Grandview Heights Police Department is located just west of downtown Columbus and in close proximity to The Ohio State University. Grandview Heights is a small city that maintains its own police and fire departments and an independent school district. Marble Cliff, a small neighboring community, contracts with Grandview Heights to provide these services to their residents. Division services are commanded by the Chief of Police who oversees 4 Patrol Sergeants, 1 Detective Sergeant, 2 Detectives, 13 Police Officers and 5 (full-time) Dispatchers.
