   The Health Center seeks candidates for the position of temporary* Part-time Communications Specialist.
   Under the general direction of the Deputy Director, the Part-Time Communications Specialist coordinates the development of and maintains the components of the Clay County Public Health Center (CCPHC) Communications Plan, and enhances community awareness and presence of CCPHC via effective and compelling communication regarding health center services, community health initiatives, policies, public health education, and health alerts using appropriate internal and external communication strategies. The Specialist uses graphic design skills to develop and update publications, agency website, and social media content to effectively communicate with the public and media outlets, as well as acts as CCPHC’s Public Information Officer (PIO). 
   Duties include: 
   Develops engaging health messages and content, social media strategy, and scheduling that ensures a comprehensive response to identified public health needs
   Assists in writing news releases, web articles, public service announcements, etc.
   Researches, writes, edits and develops graphic design/layout, and prepares print and electronic publications 
   Provides assistance to CCPHC programs to plan community outreach, public education and marketing strategies
   Reviews CCPHC communication and publications to ensure the cultural and linguistic needs of the intended audience are met
   Maintains good working relationships with the media and communicates with regional, state, and local public health and emergency response agencies 
   Researches public health information and works with internal staff to share accurate and equitable messaging
   Engages with the public in person and online to provide quality customer service
   Works effectively with Communications Specialist to complete tasks
   Develops and manages grant proposals as assigned
   Participates in agency-related projects, community events, and special events as assigned
   Effectively engages with local, state and federal government officials, public health staff, health and social service agency personnel, and community groups
   Prepares detailed reports and work plans as assigned
   Proactively provides feedback for improvements that improve quality, efficiency, cost savings, productivity, systems, and/or procedures
   Maintains strict confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations 
   Reports for special assigned duties during a public health emergency, if applicable
   Other duties as assigned 
   Position Qualifications: 
   An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations is required; an equivalent combination of education and/or related experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
   Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication, strong organizational and independent research skills, the ability to present information accurately and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to work independently on assignments is required
   Excellent computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Adobe design software. Familiarity with website content management software is preferred.
   A current driver’s license and auto insurance are required
   Two or more years related experience is preferred
   *This position is temporary and contingent on program needs and funding. The position is anticipated to run through December 31, 2022. The work schedule is approximately 20 hours per week.
