The Town of South Kingstown, Rhode Island has an exciting opportunity available within the Information Technology Department. The IT Department is seeking applicants for the position of part time Audio Visual Technician. The Audio Visual Technician will work under the IT Director and will be responsible for setting up and operating equipment used to record and livestream public meetings.
The part time Audio Visual Technician will set up and install equipment such as laptops, microphones, TVs, video monitors and cameras; they will run video, audio and signal testing; the position will ensure all connected systems operate at peak performance. To be considered, candidates must have a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues and adjust as needed. Candidates must have working knowledge of audio and video equipment, video communication software (i.e. Zoom, Teams, etc.), IP network and various computer systems. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, a demonstrated ability to establish successful working relationships with co-workers, and willingness to work with members of the public in a courteous and professional manner.
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. An Associate’s degree in audiovisual technology, or related field such a digital media, or equivalent work experience is preferred. This position will work 12 to 15 hours a month based on the season and business need. The required work schedule is primarily evening hours between 6:00pm and 10pm. The role will be required to work at every Town Council and Planning Board meeting. This position pays $20 per hour.
