On Monday , March 7 , 2022 , at approximately 3:45 p . m . , officers of the Hot Springs Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Carpenter Dam Road in reference to the discovery of human remains located in an open field . The Criminal Investigation Division also responded and determined that the victim’s death was not from natural causes . The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy and identification , where the victim was identified as Ryan Kennedy , 43 , and his death was ruled a homicide . The subsequent investigation identified one suspect - Damonte Walters , 18 , from Henderson , Texas . Walters was charged with First - Degree Murder and is currently being held at the Garland County Detention Center .
