The City of Mont Belvieu, Texas is currently accepting applications for an
Maintenance Worker I
at the Public Works Department.
The City of Mont Belvieu is a growing community located on IH-10 east of Houston, Texas in Chambers County.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Construction Supervisor and the Maintenance Crew leader, this position is responsible for
assisting in installing water & sewer taps, installing water & sewer lines, repairing water leaks, assisting in unclogging stopped up sewer lines as well as the maintenance and repair of necessary equipment and facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safely operate hand tools, power tools, small to heavy equipment, and city vehicles.
Repairs water leaks involving main water lines, service lines, fire hydrants, water meters and valves.
Install, repair and sometimes read water meters.
Participate in removal and repair/replacement of sewer lift stations and other pumps and motors involved in water & wastewater operations.
Yard maintenance and facility repairs.
Performs valve exercising, dead-end main flushing and fire hydrant maintenance.
Some “on-call”, evening or weekend work will be required during urgent or emergency situations.
Wi
ll work in inclement conditions and sometimes harsh environments.
Assist with pouring and finishing concrete.
During emergency conditions, all City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
Performs any and all other related duties or assignments as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No supervisory responsibilities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High
School diploma or equivalent (GED).
Experience with pouring and finishing concrete will be a plus.
Must possess a valid Texas Driver License.
Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, Class “B” preferred.
Class C Water and Wastewater license issued by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) or ability to obtain within a reasonable time.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

WORK
ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the
employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may
work in confined spaces and around moving mechanical parts, fumes and/or
chemicals, and vibration. The employee may be exposed to work in areas where
there is vehicular traffic nearby. Work environment will vary.
