   Qualifications
   A.
       
   Education and Experience:
   High school graduate or GED. Two years of parks maintenance experience preferred. A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be considered by the City as a substitute for the minimum qualifications.
   B.
       
   Certifications: Valid Florida driver’s license required. 
   C.
       
   Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
   Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of grounds-keeping, construction, and maintenance equipment; knowledge of grounds-keeping, equipment operations, construction, and maintenance methods and practices required. Interpersonal skills required.  
   General Description 
   Skilled work in the operation of grounds-keeping and parks maintenance. This position is responsible for keeping up the appearance, health, and safety of landscapes and features in City parks and athletic fields. This is an active, physically demanding outdoor job.
   Essential Functions
   1.
       
   Seed, mow, edge, fertilize, aerate, water, and weed lawns in City parks and fields.
   2.
       
   Inspect and repair playground equipment, picnic tables, benches, and other park amenities.
   3.
       
   Beautify park grounds by keeping lawns green and litter-free and by planting and tending to seasonal annual flowers as well as perennial trees, shrubs, and flowering plants.
   4.
       
   Prepare athletic fields and ensure they are ready for games and practices.
   5.
       
   Keep trails and paths clear and in good condition.
   6.
       
   Pick up litter and remove bagged trash.
   7.
       
   Operate various grounds-keeping, construction, and maintenance equipment.
   8.
       
   Assist with installing and maintaining irrigation systems. Assists with routine maintenance and construction projects.
   9.
       
   Read and interpret manuals to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
   10.
       
   Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules.
   11.
       
   Attends and participates in administrative meetings as required
   12.
       
   Other duties as assigned
   Essential Physical Skills
   Work can be repetitive and physically demanding, requiring frequent bending, lifting, and shoveling. Acceptable eyesight, hearing (with/without correction), Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 75 lbs.), walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, crawling, driving, operating equipment. Reasonable accommodations will be made for otherwise qualified individuals with a disability.
   Environmental Conditions
   Works outside in various weather conditions with dust, dirt, noise, and vibrations. Chemicals (insecticides, herbicides, etc.), cleaning supplies. Works in or with moving objects.
