   Minimum Qualifications
   A:
       
   Education and Experience:
   High school graduate or GED required.  Five (5) years’ experience in construction/repair/maintenance of buildings required.  A comparable amount of training, education, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
   B.
       
   Certifications:
       
   Valid Class B CDL Florida driver’s license preferred 
       
   Preference given to journeyman or contractor licensed individuals
   C.
       
   Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
   Knowledge of materials, methods, tools and practices used in general and preventative maintenance work.  Experience in the safe operation of standard hand tools, machines, power equipment, and test equipment.  Ability to operate various vehicles, trucks, light construction equipment and machinery.  Ability to read and interpret building construction plans. Ability to interpret, understand, and follow a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, schematic, or schedule form.  Ability to lead and carry out assignments with minimal instructions.  Knowledge of general repair, installation, and maintenance techniques to keep buildings and equipment in good repair.  Ability to perform repairs and maintenance work with little or no direct supervision.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and general office skills preferred.  Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability and willingness to perform manual tasks required.  
   General Description
   Skilled maintenance work in the repair and maintenance of City facilities and equipment.  Operates a wide variety of manual, gas, and electric powered hand tools.  Responds to emergency and after-hour situations in order to confine, resolve, or prevent injurious or hazardous conditions.    
   Essential Functions
   1.
       
   Performs general building maintenance and repairs to include carpentry, plumbing, and some minor electrical and air conditioning functions.
   2.
       
   Performs safety inspections on equipment and other facilities.
   3.
       
   Operates and performs preventive maintenance on assigned facilities and equipment.
   4.
       
   Performs maintenance on building drains, water systems and other building systems.
   5.
       
   Picks up materials and assists in normal clean-up activities.
   6.
       
   Protects assets by monitoring and enforcing internal controls.  Follows manufacturers and OSHA safety pre-cautions.
   7.
       
   Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements.  Advises management of actions and potential risks.
   8.
       
   Controls expenses effectively.
   9.
       
   Keeps up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional areas to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
   10.
       
   Performs other duties as assigned.
   Essential Physical Skills
   Acceptable eyesight, hearing (with or without correction), lifting and carrying (up to 100 pounds, reaching, pulling, pushing, walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, bending, balancing, stooping, climbing, crawling, driving, operating equipment.  Reasonable accommodations will be made for otherwise qualified individuals with a disability.
   Environmental Conditions
   Work is performed inside and outside in various weather conditions in and around potentially hazardous areas.  Works with hazardous power tools, electrical energy, on uneven surfaces, in or with moving objects, in heights (up to 55 feet).
